Mario, the petit plumber living in the mushroom kingdom has definitely won many hearts since 1983. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, a Japanese video game developer, Mario’s life is full of adventures as he tries to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, the Koopa Villain. Isn’t it a superhero’s job to vanquish the villains and save the princess from them? With a big yes, let us see about Bowser the Koopa King and Goomba and Koopa Troopa who try to obstruct Mario on his way to save Princess Peach.
Bowser
Bowser, the King of the Koopas, is the chief antagonist in the Mario world. While most of the Koopa clan members are bipedal turtles, Bowser is large with a spiky shell, horns, sharp teeth, blood red hair, taloned fingers and three clawed foot. Others members appear to be herbivores but Bowser prefers to feed on the meat of the victims he hunts and captures. He has special powers including teleporting, fire breath like a dragon and can create shockwaves while jumping. His size varies from game to game but in a majority of the games he’s taller than all other characters. An aspiration to acquire the Mushroom Kingdom and make it his own drives Bowser. He kidnaps Princess Peach and has eight children – seven koopalings and Bowser Jr. who are beside him obstructing Mario.
Goomba
Goombas are small evil mushrooms with a brown body and dark brown legs. They have thick black eyebrows with staring eyes of a cop and a pair of fangs. Jump on them or whack them up with a hammer and proceed towards Princess Peach. Over years, many variants of goombas appeared in different Mario series like Paragoombas, Microgoombas, Goombarios, and Goombellas. Gold Goombas – the golden variants of goombas also appeared in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and some Mario party games.
Koopa Troopa
Koopa Troopas, commonly known as troopas, are turtle-like enemies in the Mario world. When stomped upon, they hide in their shells like how a normal turtle does. They are a member of the Koopa Troop and appear in four colors – Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. Red troopas continue to be in the game even when tossed until they’re kicked off a cliff. Green Troopas are similar to red troopas except they do not fall off the cliff but walk off cliffs. Blue Troopas kick their shells at the players when given a blow and are faster versions of red troopas. Yellow Troopas chase after the player and are similar to red troopas.
Though these villains act as a barricade to Mario’s (one of the most popular characters) rescue plan, our super plumber, with our control, amuses us with his tricks of defeating them and rescuing the pretty princess.
