Early Diagnoses Cured My Dog

Dogs definitely bring so much happiness into one’s life. It becomes just like a family member. All those who are dog owners are surely smiling and agreeing to this. So, it all started with a beagle puppy that blessed our lives and brought so much joy the second he entered. We are a family of five, including our little pup. My kids just love animals! I always see them petting domestic animals passing by them and feeding them regularly. I was never hesitant to get a dog home, mainly because I had one when I was a kid.

Because beagles belong to the hound family, there are some things that as dog owners one must be careful. They mostly suffer from eye and ear problems, but one must take care of several other infections or illnesses that can occur. We have a big house and an even bigger garden for the kids and dog to play in. A special dog house was constructed for him but he somehow loves sleeping with my younger daughter. It is a very cute sight though.

This naughty little pup was growing fast and we had to take him for regular check-ups and vaccinations. Over the past few weeks, I started noticing getting very lethargic and increased his urination. At first, I thought it was probably just the kids making him run too much so he must be getting tired and thirsty at the same time, but then this happened even while the kids were in school. I was starting to get worried; hence I had to quickly get him checked. The doctor was not entirely sure what seemed to be the problem but suggested we run a few medical and drug test. We went and did the tests and had to wait for the results until the next day. I did not inform the kids as they would get so worried! I couldn’t sleep the entire night hoping my little fellow was fine. It was morning, and I rushed to the clinic to find out the test results. The doctor mentioned that he had canine diabetes and hence the symptoms. He recommended that we get him treated with insulin injection, a proper diet without refined and processed food, daily exercise and watching the portions while eating. My wife and I had decided to treat him soon so he could get rid of diabetes within a few months.

I guess we all need to be very careful and pay 100% attention into what our pets eat and how they behave. I am glad I noticed these changes and got it detected at an early stage.
