General Motors Diet – Does It Really Work?

When we’re looking to lose weight, the first thing we do is to Google it. A thousand websites tell you a million things that they think will work, or they base their writings off of some research papers and the like, calling them best fitness tips. As is to be expected, some of these might work for us, and others might not, owing to a number of reasons from your straying away from the guidelines to them being unreal. In all searches, one result that is consistent is that of General Motors Diet. With a number of websites having their own versions and improvisations of the diet.

Devised for the employees of General Motors in the late 1900s, this diet first came to be in the US. Today, it is a world famous diet that has benefitted countless (or has it?) and is one that is revered.

The diet is pretty simple. Lasting a week, it gives you a mix of nutrients through the course of the diet and promises that you’ll look thinner and brighter by the end of it. With you being allowed to start the diet again after a break of three days, it is an ideal plan to lose weight.

Day one consists of just vegetables followed by a day where you’re only allowed fruits (except bananas). With the third day being a mix of vegetables and fruits (with no bananas yet again), day four gives you all the bananas you want with as much milk as you can drink. Day five gives you proteins and tomatoes followed by the penultimate day where you get to follow day five’s regime with the absence of potatoes. With the last day’s diet consisting of brown rice, fruits and juices, and vegetables, the diet comes to an end.

The diet works for the most part, and I say it because I’ve tried it at one point. Although the weight loss itself is not particularly drastic, it was there nonetheless, and that was with we me straying occasionally from the diet for a sweet indulgence or two. Also, one other thing to be noted is that the appearance getting brighter is not a hoax either. It might not be completely different, but after a few cycles, someone you haven’t met in a while is sure to make the observation of you looking better than before.

In a nutshell, the diet does work. And just like any venture it is better if you don’t expect to see results after the first cycle itself, for patience will give you a better result when it comes to the results of this diet.
